Use Case

Sprout Invoices is a plugin that allows you to transform your WordPress website into a fully featured invoicing and payment tool.

If you find yourself working for clients in WordPress, it's definitely worth taking a look at implementing this plugin into your website so you can invoice customers directly from the website. Not only does it make it easier for your customers to pay, but it makes easier for you to manage these payments as well. Additionally, this tool rivals solutions such as FreshBooks, and Wave In terms of design, usability, integrations, value, and more.

It's rare that you come across a tool that is as well designed on the back end as it is on the front end. Sprout Invoices is extremely easy to use, and presents its many features in a way that isn't overwhelming. Furthermore, the front-end comes with pre designed templates that look really good, load very quickly, and establish you as a leading player in your arena.

You can use this solution to offer your clients physical products, digital services, or anything in between. With the wealth of add-ons that had come with any paid version, you can customize the functionality to meet the needs of your business. For example, if you sell physical birdhouses for may brick and mortar store, you can use this solution. If you sell web design services, you can also use this solution. It's extremely versatile.

Free VS Pro

There is a free version of this plugin on the WordPress repository, and you can also upgrade to several tiers of paid features.

The free version only gives you access to invoicing and estimates, without many of the advanced features that will be discussing below created you get no access to add-ons, but if you're looking for a way to simply send out invoices and estimates, the free version might work for you. At the same time, if you need the flexibility of 12 different payment integrations, PDF invoices, automated emails, Unlimited Records, WooCommerce Integrations and tons more, then you'll want to look at a paid plan.

We feel that in most use cases, the paid version of this plugin makes sense, and can be afforded by anybody from a small business to a large enterprise.

Basic Essential add-ons such as WooCommerce integrations in PDF capabilities.Plus Dozens of payment integrations from BrainTree to PayPal to Stripe.Pro An automated billing solution w/ ACH payments. Use this to create subscription plans.

A little known secret when it comes to this company is that they will run user specific discount campaigns. What this means is that if you visit the website on one day, leave without purchasing, and come back another day, they may offer you a 30% discount to sweeten the deal for you. you should definitely try this out, as when we purchased the plug-in, we were able to get a 30% discount because of this system.

We also like the 14 day money back guarantee, so you can use this to dedicate fuel for the plug-in and features.

Set Up & Features

The best aspect of this plugin is the expandability of it. You can incorporate dozens of payment processors, as well as tons of integrations.

This graphic shows some of the integrations that you can incorporate into the website with the Sprout Invoicing Plugin. We've personally used the MailChimp integration, email integration, and Twillo SMS notifications. While the setup process is different for each of these services, the interface that you use to incorporate them is extremely well designed and easy to follow. The company also offers tons of guides on how to use these integrations at successfully.

This graphic shows eight of the more than twelve payment processor integrations that you can use. As you can see, there are a bunch of different integrations that work in all geographies. For example, if you needed to get paid from a client in Latin America, Mercado Pago would be the choice to use. In America, stripe would be the top choice.

If you offer custom digital services that you need to build for using invoices, then this is the plugin for you. It doesn't matter where your client is located, they will still be able to pay easily, securely, and online.

The integrations don't stop there. Sprout Invoices works with many of the leading form plugins.

This means that you can incorporate the invoice and estimate acceptance forms directly into your WordPress website. While Sprout as its own functionality that is well designed and easy to use, sometimes using a form plugin will allow you to incorporate and integrate sprout into your website by following existing form styles, and offering the ability to place the form anywhere you need.

In addition to form plugins, Sprout Invoices integrates with WooCommerce (extremely well). You can automatically add WooCommerce products to invoices, You can use the 140 plus payment integrations in the WooCommerce checkout for your own invoices, And you can incorporate a invoice at your WooCommerce checkout (Pay later via invoice).

This makes perfect sense in many situations -- say you are selling a bulk quantity of goods, and the buyer would like to pay via invoice with a wholesale discount. This is now possible by integrating Sprout with WooCommerce.

There are a couple other integrations with major WordPress plugins like Project Panorama (WordPress plugin that allows you to plan and track the progress of projects ) and WP eSignature (we use this in our personal setup) which is a UETA/ESIGN compliant legally binding WordPress plugin for document signing similar to DocuSign.

This tool allows you to automate the many steps of an invoicing workflow.

Because the Plugin automatically emails perspective clients, tracks estimate acceptances or denials, automatically create invoices, and automatically send them, you can save a lot of time with this tool.

Branding & Frontend Design

The frontend design of the emails, client portal, estimates and invoices is really well done. You can get a full understanding of the design in our video walkthrough (scroll up), But the four templates that this plugin offers are easy to understand and fully customizable to your brand (colors, labels, logos).

The client dashboard functionality that you can set up is super helpful, and allows all invoices estimates and plugins for the specific client to be housed in one place, which will save you time in the long run.

Backend Design

Because this is an extremely powerful plugin, back-end design is very important.

The developers behind Sprout Invoices obviously devoted a lot of time and thought to the user interface and design of the back end dashboard. You can see examples of this in our walkthrough video, but things are laid out logically, categorized correctly, and easy to understand.

You don't need to be a developer to install and configure this plugin as everything is visual and easy to use.

At the same time, if you need advanced functionalities, there are tons of code snippets, PHP plugin an estimate template boilerplates, and more that you can use to expand this platform to meet your specific needs.

The support behind this plugin is truly some of the best in the industry. As a developer, we wanted to expand the platform with PHP. We reached out to the development team with some questions, and they got back to us almost immediately stating that they needed a couple days to do some research. Within a couple days, they had come back to us with tons of resources, code snippets, and more to help us out.

Support with plugins is extremely important, especially if the intended user group isn't super technical. Because many small business owners may be looking to incorporate this WordPress invoicing solution into their website, they can depend on the amazing support that this product comes with.

This is a very well designed plugin with tons of integrations and features that will allow you to affectively invoice your clients from your WordPress website. We offer a specialized service for website owners that can only be billed via invoice. We wanted to invoice through WooCommerce, but all of the existing solutions were extremely limited period Additionally, we needed the expandability of multiple payment processors so we could work with clients across the globe. This plugin fits the bill and does everything really well. There's nothing that we would want to change with it (though we don't really understand the current logo!)
